One really hot day last week we had an impromptu turn the car around and go to the park day.
When we got there we realized that we needed it more than we knew.
The boys were still in school so it was just our girl and us.
She LOVES that.
Not that you can tell or anything.
I almost didn't bring my camera. And I'm so glad that I did.
Right off the bat I found a glorious sunflower spot. The kind that studio photographers have made out of canvas pulled down for a backdrop. Complete with the golden summer weeds and grass.
I kinda worried about about snakes for a minute. But we're adventurous like that.
(not really, we just hurried)
Girl loves her daddy. And he is pretty much wrapped around her little finger.
Seriously, the weeds and the wind combined were enough to blow away the bad moods that were clinging to us just an hour earlier.
Sittin' by the water we were calm and cool.
But THEN! The splash pad that was built last winter was open. We stared at that thing for months in the cold imagining what all it would do and talked about how much we were going to love having it around.
The moment of truth.
I told her she could just get a little bit wet. But that she was in her clothes so don't get soaked.
Wheeeeeeee!
Still keeping it at a splash.
Mostly dry.
But then she just let it all go and I just let her. Heck, I wanted to join her!
Directly followed by this celebratory dance across the basketball court.
We will be here many a days in the coming months.
It's good for the soul. Which I happen to really need.
I need this because every single year when the sun starts blazing, and we reach triple digits and things like swimming and camping start happening,
I totally get a case of
reverse seasonal affective disorder. (click to learn about)
RSAD for short.
I'm indoorsy. I just am.
But that face right there can totally bring me out of any funk. And that splash pad?
Nothing but good times. Good no risk of drowning panic attack inducing good times.
Something tells me I'm into something good.
