Sending this to Heaven

Dear Goldie,

We miss you so much and think about you and talk about you every day.

You have been gone exactly one week. But I feel like I haven't seen you in a year.

I wish I understood why you had to leave us so soon. I thought you would be here until the kids were grown.  I really did.

But I understand. And it is o.k.

Thank you for being such an  important part of our family. We wouldn't be the same without you.

You made us laugh. A lot. 

Made us love on a whole new level.

You were so loving. Always keeping us company, coming in for a snuggle. Running to us when we got home. Always so happy to see us. It was as if we had been gone for weeks every time. When the children would cry you ran to their side. You watched over them at night. Going from room to room, giving each of them equal attention and care.

Really I could go on for pages about your loving nature. 

Hands down you were the best guard dog there ever was. Keeping us safe all the time. Always on the lookout for intruders. Or horses. 

I can honestly say we don't feel as safe without you here.

It feels weird without you here. Daily things remind me of you and there is a void. I still feel you by he front door when I am standing by the table. I expect to see you looking at me to let you out. 

 Goldie girl I love you. 

Until we meet again, I know we have a special angel.
